Description

These Easy Small Batch Cinnamon Rolls are soft, pillowy, and quick to make using simple, plant-based ingredients. Perfect for a cozy breakfast or sweet treat, this recipe yields fluffy, aromatic rolls sized for a few people, minimizing waste while delivering a comforting melt-in-your-mouth experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup plant-based milk (warm, about 110°F)
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon natural brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons plant-based butter, softened

Filling

  • 1/4 cup natural brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon (natural)
  • 2 tablespoons plant-based butter, softened

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (natural)
  • 12 tablespoons plant-based milk
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1/4 teaspoon natural gelling agent

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Warm the plant-based milk to about 110°F. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, active dry yeast, and a pinch of natural brown sugar. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes until foamy. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, remaining natural brown sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, apple cider vinegar, and softened plant-based butter. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes with a mixer.
  2. Let the Dough Rise: Cover the dough with a clean cloth and place it in a warm spot for 45-60 minutes, or until the dough doubles in size.
  3. Prepare the Filling: In a bowl, combine the natural brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened plant-based butter until well mixed and smooth.
  4. Shape the Rolls: Roll the risen dough out on a floured surface into a 12-inch by 8-inch rectangle. Spread the cinnamon sugar filling evenly over the dough. Carefully roll the dough up starting from the long edge. Slice the roll into 6-8 equal pieces to form individual cinnamon rolls.
  5. Second Rise: Place the sliced rolls into a greased small baking dish, leaving some space between each. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes until puffed up.
  6. Bake to Golden Perfection: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and baked through.
  7. Make the Glaze: While baking, whisk together powdered sugar, plant-based milk, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce, and natural gelling agent until smooth and drizzle-ready.
  8. Glaze and Serve: Once the rolls have cooled slightly, generously drizzle the glaze over them. Serve warm for the best soft, fluffy experience.

Notes

  • Use warm plant-based milk to properly activate the yeast.
  • Knead the dough well to develop gluten and ensure structure without density.
  • Allow adequate rising time for light and fluffy rolls.
  • Slice the rolls carefully using a sharp knife or dental floss for even rising.
  • Apply the glaze while the rolls are still warm for optimal absorption.
