Instructions

  1. Caramelize the Onions: Slice yellow onions thinly and cook slowly over low heat with 1 tablespoon plant-based butter and a splash of apple cider vinegar (natural). Stir occasionally for about 20-25 minutes until onions are golden and sweet. Near the end, add vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural) to deepen the flavor.
  2. Prepare the Fruit: While onions cook, core and thinly slice pears and apples, keeping slices uniform for even warming during grilling.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich: Butter one side of each bread slice with plant-based butter. On the unbuttered side, layer plant-based cheese slices, caramelized onions, sliced pears and apples, and fresh thyme leaves. Close the sandwich with the second bread slice, butter side facing out.
