Caramel Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup (natural)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon natural gelling agent

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Warm the plant-based milk until lukewarm, then dissolve the active dry yeast and 1 tablespoon granulated sugar into it. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, salt, and remaining granulated sugar. Add the melted vegan butter (plant-based), vanilla extract (natural), and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  2. Let the Dough Rise: Cover the dough with a clean towel and place it in a warm spot. Allow it to rise for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size, ensuring the rolls will be light and fluffy.
  3. Prepare the Filling: While the dough rises, combine brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and softened vegan butter (plant-based) in a bowl. Mix until smooth and spreadable for the cinnamon filling.
  4. Shape the Rolls: Once risen, roll the dough out on a floured surface into a large rectangle. Spread the cinnamon sugar filling evenly over the dough. Carefully roll the dough into a tight log starting from the longer side. Cut the log into slices about 1.5 inches thick and place each slice into a greased baking tray.
  5. Make the Plant-Based Caramel Glaze: In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, light corn syrup (natural), vegetarian Worcestershire sauce, a pinch of salt, natural vanilla extract, and natural gelling agent. Heat gently while stirring until thick and glossy. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
