Ideal as a healthy, light side dish or a standout at any barbecue.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 4 ears fresh corn on the cob, husked and cleaned
  • 2 tbsp plant-based butter
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp smoked turkey bacon crumbles
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (natural)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Optional Variations

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp plant-based Parmesan (plant-based)
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil or cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp honey (natural)
  • 2 tbsp smoked turkey slices

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Corn: Peel back the corn husks and remove all silk threads. Rinse the ears thoroughly under cold water to remove any remaining silk bits. Trim the ends slightly if needed to fit your steamer basket.
  2. Set Up Your Steamer: Fill a pot with about 2 inches of water, making sure the water does not touch the bottom of the steamer basket when placed on top. Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Steam the Corn: Place the corn ears in the steamer basket and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid. Steam for 8 to 12 minutes depending on ear size, flipping halfway through to ensure even cooking. The corn should be tender yet slightly crisp.
  4. Season and Serve: Carefully remove the corn from the steamer. While still hot, smear each ear with plant-based butter so it melts evenly. Sprinkle sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder (natural) on top. Finish with smoked turkey bacon crumbles and fresh parsley according to your preference.

Notes

  • Choose fresh corn for the sweetest, juiciest flavor.
  • Do not overcook to avoid mushy kernels; watch the steaming time closely.
  • Use a natural gelling agent like pectin if making complementary sauces or dips for smooth texture.
  • Husk corn in advance and keep wrapped in a damp towel until ready to steam.
  • Experiment with different herbs and spices for new flavor ideas.
